Course Information
The Certificate in Montessori Studies 3-6 years (option to include 0-3 years)
The course offers training in Montessori education. It is suitable for teacher assistants, family day care and playgroup leaders who already hold a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or an alternative Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) recognised qualification).
The Certificate in Montessori Studies 3-6 years prepares candidates with the knowledge and understanding of the Montessori philosophy and approach, as well as the specific Montessori curriculum, for the early childhood years.
This course would be suitable for parents or caregivers wanting an introductory course into Montessori education.
Please note: The Certificate course is not accredited and is not recognised by ACECQA as an early childhood qualification. It is designed to compliment ACECQA recognised qualifications.
Course Structure
The Certificate is divided into three units.
- Practical Life and Sensorial
- Environment and Language
- Cognitive and Physical Development
- 15 Workshop Days
Study Timeframe
The Certificate in Montessori Studies 3-6 years course is studied over 1 to 2 years.
The approximate study times for the various aspects of the Certificate in Montessori Studies are:
- Course Work - 36 hours
- Curriculum workshops and notebooks - 164 hours
Admissions
ADMISSIONS POLICY:
Students may enrol in this course at any time of the year. Application to the program is through direct application to the Institute and is dependent upon formal assessment of the minimum entry requirement (High School Graduation or equivalent). CREDIT FOR PRIOR LEARNING:
The Montessori Institute is committed to recognising previous studies and other relevant prior learning that contributes towards satisfying requirements for its courses. Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) is an integral part of our service and everyone is entitled to apply. For further information contact the Enrolment Officer info@mwei.edu.au. Applicants will be advised of the cost of tuition fees and further work to be completed.
